States ranked by COVID-19 test positivity rates: Nov. 9 – Beckers Hospital Review

By

Nov 9, 2020

Here are the rates of positive COVID-19 tests in each state, along with the number of new cases most recently reported and number of tests conducted per 1,000 people.

Data points were last updated Nov. 9. Data for positivity rates and tests are seven-day moving averages. New cases are daily counts as reported by state and the District of Columbia. The information cited is from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. States are arranged in descending order of test positivity rates.

Editor’s note: On Oct. 23, Johns Hopkins noted that its testing data provider, the Covid Tracking Project, is changing how it maps states’ data. The changes mean the category of data used in the denominator (total tests) may now include tests previously not included in calculations, which in turn may result in a test positivity calculation that is lower than what would have been calculated prior to the change.

“With this significant change, we will once again review our data inputs and calculations to ensure that our numbers reflect the most responsible public health calculation of test positivity,” according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center.
