As coronavirus cases continue to climb in New Jersey ahead of the holiday season, testing is ramping up across the state though long lines have been reported and wait times for results can vary.

People have also waited several days for appointments at pharmacies such as CVS and RiteAid. New Jersey has been averaging more than 44,000 tests administered per day over the last week. That total does not include recently-deployed rapid tests.

The percent positivity rate statewide on Thursday, the most recent day available, was 8.65 percent.

There were 2,785 patients in the state’s 71 hospitals as of 10 p.m. Monday with the coronavirus or a suspected case, an increase from the 2,693 in the previous 24-hour period.

New Jersey’s statewide seven-day average for new positive tests increased to 4,050 — 13% higher than a week ago and 261% higher than a month earlier. Gov. Phil Murphy announced an additional 3,592 COVID-19 cases and 11 more deaths on Monday,
