Virginia sees 3,173 new coronavirus cases, now reporting 233,617 statewide – WSLS 10

RICHMOND, Va. – As of November 28, Virginia is now reporting 233,617 cases of the coronavirus across the commonwealth since March.

Here’s a breakdown of Saturday’s 3,173 new cases:

  • 496 new cases in Fairfax County
  • 242 new cases in Prince William County
  • 140 new cases in Chesapeake
  • 133 new cases in Virginia Beach
  • 108 new cases in Loudoun County
  • 95 new cases in Frederick County
  • 86 new cases in Arlington County and Henrico County
  • 81 new cases in Alexandria
  • 80 new cases in Chesterfield County
  • 70 new cases in Richmond City
  • 64 new cases in Stafford County
  • 63 new cases in Roanoke County
  • 50 new cases in Rockingham County and Montgomery County
  • 49 new cases in Lynchburg
  • 46 new cases in Tazewell County and Carroll County
  • 42 new cases in Spotsylvania County
  • 40 new cases in Suffolk
  • 37 new cases in Harrisonburg and Wythe County
  • 36 new cases in Washington County
  • 34 new cases in Winchester and Newport News
  • 33 new cases in Campbell County
  • 31 new cases in Pittsylvania Couny
  • 30 new cases in Pulaski County
  • 29 new cases in Franklin County
  • 26 new cases in Bedford County and Buckingham County

  • 9 new cases in Buchanan County, Clarke County and Dickenson County
  • 8 new cases in Louisa County, Richmond County, Brunswick County and Buena Vista
  • 7 new cases in Fredericksburg, Isle of Wight County, Rockbridge County, Northampton County, James City County, Lexington and Nottoway County
  • 6 new cases in Henry County, Amelia County, Greene County, Halifax County and Mecklenburg
  • 5 new cases in Lee County, Goochland County, Covington, Westmoreland County, Manassas Park, Waynesboro, Powhatan County, Fluvanna County and Prince Edward County
  • 4 new cases in Danville, Cumberland County, Colonial Heights, Prince George County, Essex County, Dinwiddie County and Lancaster county
  • 3 new cases in Matinsville, Alleghany County, New Kent County, Fauquier County, Hopewell and Norton
  • 2 new cases in Northumberland County, Appomattox County, Southampton County, Craig County, Falls Church, Charlotte County and King William County
  • 1 new case in Charlottesville, Patrick County, Culpeper County, Franklin City, Middlesex County, Petersburg, Fairfax City, Bath County, Greensville County, Mathews County and Lunenburg County
  • Orange County decreased by two cases

Saturday’s total of 233,617 cases marks an increase from Friday’s total of 230,444 cases.

As of Saturday, the Virginia Dept. of Health reports there have been 3,770,112 total testing encounters.

The term “testing encounters” includes individuals who have been tested more than once due to their profession, high-risk status or need for a negative result to return to work. The health department started using this metric on May 1. To learn more, click here.
