IT IS THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIRST REPORTED CONFIRMED CASE IN THE STATE. THE FIRST TWO CASES, REPORTED ON MARCH 6, 2020, INVOLVED AN EMPLOYEE AT MUSC IN CHARLESTON, AND A RESIDENT OF A NURSING HOME IN KERSHAW COUNTY. DHEC DETERMINED THOSE CASES WERE NOT LINKED. SOUTH CAROLINA REPORTED UNDER 1000 CASES OF COVID-19 THURSDAY. 819 NEW CASES TODAY. THIS IS THE FOURTH DAY IN A ROW CASES HAVE BEEN UNDER 1000. OFFICIALS REPORTED 38 NEW COVID-19 DEATHS. 7660 PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES SINCE THE PANDEM

Number of new coronavirus cases in SC goes above 1,000, again, DHEC daily report shows

(Above numbers in the video are from Thursday’s DHEC report.)The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported Friday more than 1,000 new confirmed COVID-19 cases after the number was below that mark for the last four days. The latest DHEC numbers show 1,079 new confirmed cases in the state, with 277 probable cases, 36 confirmed deaths and five probable deaths.This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 448,275, probable cases to 74,983, confirmed deaths to 7,697, and probable deaths to 1,002.South Carolina is seeing a 5.7% positivity rate, according to DHEC.
